The internet freedom agenda never really had a plan to fight this logic. The United States lacks the economic or diplomatic power to bend China or the European Union to its will on internet matters. If anything, the dependency of American firms on access to these giant markets gives China and Europe the upper hand. The Internet Freedom Festival’s Diversity & Inclusion Program is a collaborative initiative designed to give voice to underrepresented groups and give them more presence within the larger Internet Freedom community, providing them with the means to attend the Internet Freedom Festival.
Internet censorship is the control or suppression of what can be accessed, published, or viewed on the Internet enacted by regulators, or on their own initiative. Individuals and organizations may engage in self-censorship for moral, religious, or business reasons, to conform to societal norms, due to intimidation, or out of fear of legal or other consequences.
